Jeremy Becker Levels Up By Taking Down Poker Masters Title

Jeremy Becker took home a new career-high cash of $255,000 after winning Event #2 of the 2024 Poker Masters.

Las Vegas tournament pro Jeremy Becker‘s poker career took a giant step forward on Thursday afternoon after he won Event #2 of PokerGO’s 2024 Poker Masters – a $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event – for a new career-high score of $255,000.

For Becker, the performance underscores a number of new career firsts and milestones. It’s his first victory in a $10K, his first win in the PokerGO Studio, and first career six-figure score. The first-place prize is more than three times his previous high score of $76,185 (for a 2nd place in a $2,200 buy-in side event during the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown festival in April), and it also jettisoned him over $2 million in lifetime earnings as well according to The Hendon Mob.

Becker entered the final table on Thursday as the chip leader, with a final six dominated by some of the young up-and-coming modern crushers of today including reigning WPT World Champion Dan Sepiol, back-to-back Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open event winner Nick Seward, and two-time WSOP bracelet winner and high-stakes cash game VPIP machine ‘Texas Mike’ Moncek. They were joined by a pair of high roller veterans in WPT Alpha8 champ Ren Lin and 2022 Poker Masters overall winner Sean Winter.

In the end, Becker found himself heads-up against ‘Texas Mike’ and at a 5-to-1 chip deficit. But he doubled through, battled back, and outlasted Moncek for his first Poker Masters single event trophy and a new top-of-resume signature result.

As Becker himself noted online, it must have been the boost he was looking for. Although he ended up ultimately winning his much-hyped summer crossbook bet with Landon Tice by just over $70,000 – he did end up losing more than $17,000 over the summer. Certainly, his 10th place finish in August’s $5,300 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship Event for $63,000 helped, but this more than a-quarter-million score by Becker is a statement win by Daniel Negreanu’s protege perhaps proving that the public interest he received by winning an incredible amount of daily tournaments at the Wynn in 2023 was well deserved.

PokerGO’s 2024 Poker Masters runs through September 19th and includes five $10K events, a pair of $15K tournaments, and a $25K Main Event with leaderboard points awarded along the way. The player at the top of that leaderboard when all is said and done will earn a $25,000 PokerGO Tour passport, a PokerStars NAPT Golden Pass and become the ninth player awarded a Poker Masters Purple Jacket. In the opening tournament of the festival, a $5K No Limit Hold’em event, Spencer Champlin defeated Jessica Vierling to win $160,475, after both he and Vierling satellited into the tournament for just $560 each.
